ongoing by Tim Bray · Glass Questions →
Are They Privacy-Busters? · Potentially, but it doesn’t feel like a big deal. Tim Bray is among the willfully ignorant/deliberately obtuse when it comes to anything Google. The privacy implications with Glass are more troubling for the wearer, especially if it becomes widely adopted. This is undoubtedly overlooked and excused by the implied and explicit consent the wearer offers when he...

The Day of My Deliverance Draws Near
This is my second to last week as a working stiff. My last Monday, the next one being a holiday.  I’ll have more to say about this soon. But I’m surprised at the mixture of emotions this is bringing. Mostly excitement.  So enjoy it while you can, Monday! This is the last time you’ll ever ruin my weekend.

Detroit Needs A Statue of Robocop! →
Build a life-size monument of Robocop in Detroit! Part man, part machine, all crowd funded! So here’s the idea behind putting a statue of Robocop somewhere in Detroit. They raised $50,000 to create a memorial to a bitterly satirical movie.  Yeah, awesome.

Nokia's aluminum Lumia 925 is the best Windows... →
The only problem here is Windows Phone. It’s a solid operating system, but it needs improving and a higher quality of apps. Nokia is once again fleshing out its Windows Phone range, but it’s up to Microsoft to push the software forwards. The only problem here is the writing.  “…but it needs improvement, and better apps.” And the editing.  It’s a throw-away...

24: Live Another Day Coming In Summer 2014 →
parislemon: I was a huge fan of 24 back in the day. The first season was the first television show I “binge watched” on DVD while in college. I think I watched all 24 episodes in four days… So I’m glad it’s coming back. And I’m actually happy that it’s not going to be a feature-length film. 24’s hook was the real-time aspect played over a long season. I would worry that a 24 movie would be just...

The Online Photographer: The World's Great Lens... →
These are the world’s top camera lens makers, albeit in the opinion of only one aficionado: moi. I’m going to make a guess—a wild leap of a guess—and predict that probably not everybody in every forum everywhere will agree with… This was posted yesterday by Mike Johnston of The Online Photographer. In it, he lists the companies he regards as the title says, “The...

Robin Wong: Olympus PEN E-P5: Initial Thoughts and... →
Nice write-up by Robin Wong on his initial impressions of the new, but still unreleased, Olympus E-P5. Looks like a jewel of a body.  I’m an Olympus fan. When I transitioned from Kodak and their bridge cameras to a DSLR, I bought an Oly E-520 because in 2008 it offered a remarkable feature set in a small body entry-level DSLR.  Olympus has always suffered for lack of a good sensor. The...
